About Simhachalam Temple
The 11th-century temple of Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha crowns a hill 16 km from Vizag. The deity is kept covered in sandalwood paste all year and revealed in its true form only on Chandanotsavam (Akshaya Tritiya, April–May), when lakhs climb the hill. The Kalinga–Chola architecture and the stone chariot are worth the trip on any day.
