About Nagarjuna Sagar

The Nagarjuna Sagar dam across the Krishna (completed 1967) created a vast reservoir on the AP–Telangana border. Boats cross to Nagarjunakonda island, where the museum preserves the Ikshvaku-era Buddhist university and stupas relocated before the valley flooded. The right-bank town of Vijayapuri South is in Palnadu district.
