About Lepakshi
The Veerabhadra temple at Lepakshi, built in the 1530s by the Vijayanagara governor Virupanna, is famous for its 'hanging' pillar that does not touch the floor, its ceiling murals — among the finest surviving Vijayanagara paintings — the 7-hooded Naga-linga and a monolithic Nandi, one of the largest in India, on the road outside.
